Who does not know the church of Santa Maria Novella, the Uffizi Gallery and Ponte Vecchio in Florence? Monuments that make a unique experience for every visitor, who will feel thrown into the cradle of the Renaissance and expect to see, at any time, Dante or Michelangelo walking through the streets of the city.

Florence, however, is not just must see monuments: visitors can also enjoy unusual tours, like a walk along the various gardens. Not only Boboli, then: Villa di Castello is a perfect example of Italian garden that celebrates the power of the Medici dinasty; the Rose and Iris Gardens, around Piazzale Michelangelo, are delightful flowered green areas with a stunning city view.

Another interesting visit can be planned at the Church of Dante (according to tradition, the church where Dante met Beatrice in 1274 for the first time), or at Pagliazza tower dated back to the Byzantine period and used as a place of imprisonment during the Middle Ages. Don’t miss the guided tour to the historical boat of the “renaioli”, the “Barchino”.

Looking for a treat? Berta: a petrified head protruding from the walls of the church bell tower inVia dei Cerretani. The legend says that Berta, having looked out of the window of Santa Maria Maggiore after listening to the astrologer Francesco Stabili – known as Cecco d’Ascoli – asking for some water along the way to the pyre, had ordered the crowd to give nothing to the condemned, since it was well known that sorcerers could use any means to gain power. Cecco d’Ascoli, said her these words: “Your head will never been pulled out from there.” And so it was.
